Become a Top Wedding Planner – 3 Tips for Offering "Day of" Coordination Services

Bride and Groom Entering Ceremony

As a wedding planner you might not always be hired to plan a wedding from start to finish.  You may be asked to manage the wedding on the “day of”.  In other words, a bride hires you to organize and manage the vendors and events taking place on her wedding day.  She may have arranged these things herself but doesn’t want the stress of overseeing them on her big day.

Here are some tips for success:

  • Determine if you have enough time to be successful.  Ideally, the bride will hire you well in advance of her wedding day so you have the time you need to do your tasks such as; contact vendors to confirm details, create the “day of” timelines, and be familiar with her wedding ceremony so you can run the rehearsal smoothly.
  • Be sure the bride actually has signed contracts with all of the vendors.  If she has not, she might not really have hired them and doesn’t realize it.  You could end up scrambling to find wedding vendors for her at the last minute.
  • Know what is expected of you.  For instance, will you decorate the reception room or just manage the vendors who will be doing it?  Oversee the end-of-day cleanup or be expected to be a part of the team that does it? And be sure it is all in your contract.

Offering “day of” services may sound easy but they can be complicated.  Make sure you are clear on what the bride expects so you can help make her dream wedding come true.
