Become a Top Wedding Planner – “Alice in Wonderland” Themed Wedding on “My Fair Wedding”

On last Sunday’s “My Fair Wedding,” celebrity wedding planner, David’ Tutera’s, out-of-the-box” bride had an “Alice in Wonderland” theme and a black wedding dress. He took her vision and made it bigger, bolder and more elegant than she could imagine.

Here are some of the changes he made to her plans that might give you ideas when you work with an “out-of-the-box” bride.

Starting with the attire, the bridesmaids’ dresses were changed from traditional with mini top hats that had elastic chin straps to bright pink tea length halter dresses (David said the halter style is flattering on all figure types) by AriaDress with matching hats from Louise Green Millinery.

The idea of a black wedding dress was a stretch for David but he gave the bride what she wanted, selecting for her a black wedding dress from Romantic Threads that flattered here figure and a white top hat from Louise Green that reminded her of the Mad Hatter from her favorite book.

The ceremony and reception were held in a Los Angeles soundstage that  was set up with a hedge maze around the space and was lit with white lights to give a whimsical, fantasy feeling.

The floor and table settings were all in black and white and accented with bright pink menus, that were printed to look like a clock, and pink Gerber daises. These echoed the colors of the wedding party.

The topsy turvy cake, seen at the top of the page, was also in black and white with pink accents. While the couple were enjoying it, each guest table was receiving their own mini versions of the cake which were brought out by members of the catering staff.

For entertainment, David hired tall stilt walkers and others who carried out the fantasy aspect of the theme.
