Become a Top Wedding Planner – Get Tips and Inspiration for a Spring Themed Wedding From “My Fair Wedding”

Last night’s episode of WEtv’s My Fair Wedding featured a controlling bride who wanted a Spring themed wedding. She told celebrity wedding planner, David Tutera, that her vision was “Munchkinland” from the movie, “The Wizard of Oz.”

The problems David found with the bride’s own planning (that you should watch for when planning weddings):

  • Her theme colors were blue and yellow, but she was using 10 different shades of blue and none of them matched
  • One of the most important wedding elements to her was bright flowers, but she was using silk flowers from the venue that were white
  • The ceremony was in one location and the reception in another building down the street, meaning guests had to walk past several store fronts to get there
  • The reception venue looked like a log cabin, which didn’t go with her Spring theme
  • The reception venue also didn’t have enough space for all of her guests, had too many columns, no room for a DJ and long buffet tables set up in a narrow hallway

David realized that the bride’s vision of “Munchkinland” meant she wanted bright flowers everywhere and wanted to incorporate a sense of whimsy so he had to make several changes to her plans:

  • The bride and bridesmaids were given different dresses, more elegant and figure flattering than their original choices
  • The location for both the ceremony and reception was switched to a hotel
  • Flowers, candles and special lighting filled the reception area
  • David ordered a custom aisle runner of  blue with yellow flowers, giving the feeling of “The Wizard of Oz’s” yellow brick road
  • He had the dance floor covered with a custom floral floor film so it seemed like dancing on flowers

  • The wedding cake, which was very important to the bride, was 7 tiers and covered with white, blue and yellow sugar flowers
