Become a Top Wedding Planner – Learn from Kleinfeld Bridal’s Success

 

One of the owners of Kleinfeld Bridal, Wayne Rodgers, was on ABC’s “The View” yesterday. Rodgers is best known as one of the stars of the 1970’s television show , “M*A*S*H,” but is now very successful in business. He talked about being an entrepreneur and the famous bridal salon.

Here are 4 of his insights on being successful and what they mean to you:

1) As an entrepreneur you are involved in a creative process

You need to learn about all the aspects of running a business in addition to knowing all about the type of business you are in.

What this means to you – Of course you want to know all you can about planning weddings, but remember you want to have a successful and profitable business so you need to know basic bookkeeping or accounting, business management and marketing.

2) Constantly ask questions

Ask, “Why am I doing it this way?” “Why am I not doing it that way?” Keep learning and improving yourself.

What this means to you – In order for your business to thrive, you need to be aware of what is working and what is not so you can make the proper adjustments. In addition, keep up with the latest trends in weddings and wedding planning.

3) Stay close to your customer

Your customer will tell you everything, listen to them. Find out what they need and give it to them.

What this means to you – This is why it is important to network with the brides in your niche and to attend and participate in bridal shows and wedding fayres. Being among people who are your potential clients will help you learn more about what they want.

4)  Sell customer service

Rodgers said Kleinfeld doesn’t sell dresses, they sell customer service. When a bride comes in, they take care of her and they find her the dress she wants.

What this means to you – As a wedding planner you are not just selling planning and management you are also in the business of selling customer service to brides. Decide what you can do to give the best service.

Rodgers has written a book on succeeding as an entrepreneur, “Make Your Own Rules.”
