Become a Top Wedding Planner – Learn from Southern Wedding Experts

Southern Living magazine has published a guidebook for brides whose weddings are in the Southern states of the United States but their wedding planning tips, advice from experts and the real weddings they feature can inspire you and your brides no matter where you are.

Here are 3 trends and tips from Southern wedding professionals:

1) Trend – “Same Day Edit” videos

Photographer/videographer Paul Wharton sees couples hiring a crew of people (5) to capture their weddings on tape then editing it in time to be shown at the reception a few hours later. Check with the videographers in your network to see if they offer this service and check pricing before suggesting it to your brides.

2) Tips for handling an outdoor wedding in hot weather

Top wedding planner Lynn Easton Andrews suggests placing fans on ceremony chairs and reception tables, having the tent vendor attach oscillating fans to tent poles and offering guests nonalcoholic drinks. She also suggests purchasing inexpensive wash cloths, rolling them up, pouring water on them, covering them with ice, placing them in a cooler for a few hours and passing them out to guests during the reception.

3) Tip – Pay attention to lighting

Lynn emphasized the importance of beautiful lighting and suggested working with a professional lighting company to help create the right mood at a wedding.

The photo at the top of this post is from one of the real weddings featured in the magazine. The bride wanted to serve dinner on mixed china patterns so she found vintage china in thrift shops, flea markets and antique stores rather than incurring the cost of renting them.
