Become a Top Wedding Planner – Let Us See What You Look Like

Photographing a Wedding Planner

When I first started my wedding and event planning business, a friend told me that people shouldn’t put their photos on their websites unless they looked like then top supermodel Cindy Crawford.  Well, that was a long time ago, before very many people and businesses were online and certainly before we had sites such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and so on.  Now everyone seems to be online to connect with other people whether for personal reasons or for business.  And, we all want to see what each other looks like so we can have a more personal connection.

Is your photo on your website?  How about on sites such as Facebook and Twitter?  I was looking through Facebook the other day trying to find someone.  I found a number of people with the same name but wasn’t sure which one she was because there weren’t any photos attached to the names. Another time I was searching for someone, I found photos of people’s pets and I have no idea whether or not the person has a pet.

My name, Sharon Hill, is very common, there is even a city in Pennsylvania with this name.  If I didn’t put my photo up, people looking for me would not know if they had the right person.

If you have a website for your wedding planning business and are on social media sites to get people to know, like, trust, and hire you, you  are going to have to show us what you look like.  Get a head shot taken of yourself wearing professional clothes.  Look business-like and well-groomed but not trendy, you want your photo to look good for more than six months.  Don’t forget to smile, you want to appear approachable.  And don’t worry if you don’t look like Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt or whoever your favorite movie star might be.  Even they don’t look like movie stars when the makeup comes off and the professional lighting is taken away.
