Become a Top Wedding Planner – Market Your Business at Holiday Networking Events

Yesterday I wrote a post about marketing your new wedding planning business at holiday parties. However, during this time of year, you’ll not only get invitations to social events, you’ll also get them for business networking events. Many groups have mixers at the end of the year in an attempt to increase their membership for the New Year.

I recently read an article on strategies for networking successfully in Association Convention & Facilities magazine. It was by Devora Zack, author of Networking for People Who Hate Networking: A Field Guide for Introverts, the Overwhelmed, and the Underconnected

Some of the ideas in the article can help you connect easily with more people at events, especially you are a “networking-hater.”

1) Before attending an event, decide what you want to get from it. If you have a goal in mind, you will more likely find the connections that you want.

2) Arrive early. It’s easier to engage in conversation when the room isn’t overcrowded and noisy when you arrive.

3) Head to the food and drink lines. These give you opportunities to talk to at least two people, the one in front of you and the one behind.

4) If you know some of the organizers, volunteer to be a greeter or to distribute marketing materials. This gives you a “job,” so you feel a little less uncomfortable, and it gives people a reason to go up and speak to you.

Don’t miss any opportunities to get out and make new business and social connections during the upcoming holiday season.
