Become a Top Wedding Planner – “Monopoly Theme” on “My Fair Wedding”

Celebrity wedding planner David Tutera’s latest challenge on his show, “My Fair Wedding,” was a board game loving bride who planned a Monopoly themed wedding. She wanted to have the board game as the base of each of her centerpieces of fake white daisies and assorted Monopoly game accessories. David thought her decorations looked like they were for a kid’s party.

From their discussions, David determined that the bride saw Monopoly as a game of luxury and he gave her a taste of luxury as he prepared her for her wedding.

He took her everywhere in a classic 1957 Bentley automobile. Remember, as David has shown in the past episodes of the show, a white stretch limousine is not the only way a bride can travel.

David changed the bride’s short wedding dress, which she had that she bought over the Internet, to a beautiful, designer gown, picture below from the website of the designer, Martina Liana.

He also gave her a  short, fun second gown, from the same designer, to wear at her reception.

And she was lent thousands of dollars of diamond jewelry to wear at the wedding (she was given a smaller necklace to keep).

Her bridesmaids were given long gowns from Anna Elyse in sapphire, because blue is the color of the most expensive properties in the Monopoly game. They were similar to the one in the photo below  from the Anna Elyse website

As far as David’s event design, he stayed away from using the Monopoly board. Instead, using the colors of game board dice, he created an upscale black and white wedding. The ceremony was outdoors with black chairs that had white cushions and a white aisle runner trimmed in black with the names of the bride and groom printed in black.

Since board games and dice are square, David filled the reception room with square tables covered with white tablecloths. A white rose and black napkin sat on each white china plate and the centerpieces were black candelabras, black and white candles and black and white dice. The dance floor was a black and white checkerboard. Dice were projected on the drapes which defined the reception space.

To bring the colors of the Monopoly “real estate properties” into the room, the lights in the room periodically changed to colors from the game.

The wedding cake was a tower of black and white dice.
