Become a Top Wedding Planner – More Wedding Planning Do’s and Don’ts from TLC’s “Four Weddings”

The weddings in last night’s episoode of TLC’s “Four Weddings” were fun to watch and, I believe, the brides in this show did not have as many negative comments about each others’ weddings as the brides ususally do.

Here are a few of the DO’s and DON’Ts of wedding planning learned from the show:

DO make sure the reception reflects the bride and groom’s personalities.

DO encourage the couple to have dance music that appeals to a wide variety of tastes and age groups.

DO see if you can block the area off for the wedding if your couple is using an outdoor public location. Otherwise your bride could get unwanted guests and have inappropriately dressed people walking through the ceremony.

DO be aware that there may be trash bins in the ceremony area if the event is outdoors. Make sure they are moved, no one wants to see or smell trash during a wedding.

DON’T keep guests waiting. One wedding started one hour after the stated time. Then guests had to wait an hour in the hot sun while photographs were taken before they could move onto the reception.

DON’T plan a lot of walking. One bride planned a “Love Walk” but it was a hot day and guests weren’t prepared for it. Remember not everyone enjoys walking and that women often wear high heels and won’t be comfortable.

DON’T ask guests to stand for long periods of time, especially in the hot sun.

DON’T squeeze a large number of guests into a small venue. Work with the bride and groom to determine size of the guest list, select the venue to accommodate the numbers and keep tabs on the RSVPs so you and the venue can make adjustments in the floorplan, if necessary.
