Become a Top Wedding Planner – Network to Get High Quality Referrals and Clients

Here’s another story about my early days as a wedding and event planner that I think will help you.
When I worked as an event planner in corporate life, I didn’t worry at all about meeting people from other companies. However, when it came to having a business of my own, life changed. I knew a few people in other companies and was able to get opportunities but I knew I also had to get out and meet people to create even more opportunities for myself.
A friend, who had a business of her own, suggested I search out some business networking and leads groups. So over the years I’ve spent a lot of time and money going to a lot of business networking events. I’ve met a lot of business owners since, when I started, I went to every single networking meeting I heard about. (Which I don’t recommend to anyone – you really need to find figure out if a networking group some of the same niche that you are in.)
I also joined the leadership teams of a few of the local business groups. I held offices and become chairperson of marketing and event groups, all of which made me feel like I had a second, very time consuming, non-paying job. I can’t recommend doing this either unless you are sure it will give back to you in some way.
I learned a lot about networking so I wrote an article with some of the do’s and don’ts of networking for wedding planners. I posted it on my article site, www.WeddingPlannerArticles.com. While you are there check out some of my other articles too, I write new ones all the time to give you tips on running your successful wedding planning business.
If you have needs that I haven’t addressed in my blog posts or articles please let me know by leaving a comment. Thanks.
