Become a Top Wedding Planner – Position Yourself as an Expert at Networking Events


I attended a women’s business networking luncheon last week. I had known some of the women foryears but many were new to me and I wanted to get to know them.

At one point I asked one of the women what was currently the hottest product in her industry. Her industry is related to events and I know it quite well. I know that every year something is new and on people’s “must have” list. She hesitated then said there weren’t any hot new products. Very surprising.

I then asked her who her target market was. She said “everyone.” She didn’t target any specific niche. She belonged to a few different networking groups and got business from people in different industries.

I hope when you meet people and they ask you about your work as a wedding planner you are able to speak about some of the trends in weddings and wedding planning. Then you should be able to tell them how you incorporate the trends in your work. This way, they hear the benefits a bride would have when she works with you.

You should also be able to talk about who you are targeting. It will help people remember you and refer you when they meet the people you want as clients.

Always be prepared to talk about your wedding planning business and help people to see you as an expert in your field. You never know who might be able to give you referrals to great clients.
