Become a Top Wedding Planner – 7 Steps to Starting the New Year Right

It’s the first week of 2011 and the perfect time to make sure you have everything in place to have a successful wedding planning business this year.

Here are 7 steps to take for a fresh new year:

1) Post your goals where you can see them

Make sure you know, as you start each day, what your goals are so you drive all of your actions towards them.

2) Schedule your action items on your calendar

If you don’t schedule your action items, they might not get done.

3) Make a decision about any unfinished items

If you carried over goals and action items from last year, decide this week whether you are going to complete them or you are going to dump them. Unfinished business takes your energy, makes you feel guilty and doesn’t let you move forward. So, either schedule their completion or decide it is okay to let them go and move on.

4) Update your portfolio

Add photographs from the weddings you have recently planned, thank you letters from clients and recent information about you and your business.

5) Update your website and marketing materials

Make sure you have the most current information about your services and add recent photographs and customer testimonials.

6) File your paperwork

Make sure your client binders are in order and neatly shelved. File your invoices and bills and update your bookkeeping so your books are ready to give to you accountant for taxes.

7) Straighten your office

Clear your desktop, put away wedding magazines and put all of those vendor business cards you have been collecting into a business card file or enter the information into your contact software.

Now you are ready for a wonderfully successful year!
