Become a Top Wedding Planner – Tips from Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding Planner

Wedding and event planner Bryan Rafanelli, who planned Chelsea Clinton’s July 31, 2010 wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, was featured as “The Man of the Moment” in the October 2010 issue of  Town and Country magazine. In the article, he gave details about the the wedding flowers and the gift bags and gave his ideas on some aspects of wedding planning that can help you:

On planning interfaith weddings (Chelsea is Methodist and Marc is Jewish), he suggested expressing the differences and celebrating them

  • Talk about them in the ceremony
  • Write about them in the wedding program
  • Explain the words used in the ceremony, such as benediction or ketubah, so guests of either faith understand what is going on

On handling all of the ideas and choices brides are exposed to today from the Internet and wedding shows

  • Have the bride carefully define her personal style and the way she wants to celebrate her wedding
  • Don’t let the bride make decisions too quickly
  • Take advantage of the fact that, with the Internet, you and your bride can get almost anything she wants from anywhere in the world, even at the last minute

Bryan started planning events when he was a volunteer for the AIDS Action Committee in Boston in the late 1980’s. He worked in special events and created themes for fundraisers. He started his business at the suggestion of a friend, doing three fundraising events a year, and now does twenty-five.
