Become a Top Wedding Planner – Wedding Trends for 2011

To help you with your wedding planning in the New Year, the January/February 2011 issue of Bridal Guide magazine has an article on wedding trends for 2011.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Vintage decor
  • Classic and timeless colors such as whites, champagnes, greys and golds
  • Lighting with cut-crystal chandeliers

  • Again, the word is vintage – arrangements with a classic feel using peonies, anemones and cherry blossoms
  • Using traditional flowers in new ways – carnations clustered to look like hydrangea and adding baby’s breath to centerpieces and bouquet
  • Getting an old fashion look by putting arrangements in wood crates, Chines tea tins and milk glass containers

  • Textured papers
  • The look of hand-written invitations
  • Custom, hand-drawn illustrations

  • Fresh seasonal food from local markets
  • Hors d’oeuvres served in fun ways – their example is shot glasses of Bloody Marys with grilled shrimp and cucumber balanced on the side that can be dipped into the Bloody Mary
  • Sophisticated sweets – handmade chocolates, truffles, and fudge instead of the jars of M&M’s and candy bars that we’ve seen this year

  • Flowers – peonies and anemones are popular on cakes too!
  • Calligraphy – curvy swirls and monograms piped in royal icing
  • Old fashion flavors such as pound cake with buttercream frosting

You can read about more trends in the magazine.
