Become a Top Wedding Planner – “Winter Wonderland” Theme on “My Fair Wedding”

Celebrity wedding planner David Tutera’s challenge on Sunday’s episode of WeTV’s “My Fair Wedding” was to give a bride a “Winter Wonderland” wedding in 75 degree weather in Los Angeles. And, the bride also wanted to recognized her Indonesian heritage and make references to her groom’s last name, “Ace.” She had planned to use white candles, a disco ball, casino playing cards and Indonesian puppets to carry out her theme. David thought her collection of decor items looked like poker night mixed with wooden statues from an arts and craft store.

What would you do with this mix of ideas for a theme? David gave the bride and groom a “Winter Wonderland” wedding that that made them forget the other touches they wanted. He moved the venue from their church to the University of Southern California. The ceremony was held outdoors and the reception in the Town and Gown ballroom. (USC has a beautiful campus and has a few venues for weddings.) Everything was white – trees, custom made fur-trimmed tablecloths, lacy white chair covers and candles.

Each table had an ice sculpture centerpiece that looked like a tree and was decorated with baby’s breath that made it looked like it was covered in snow.

Since the bride was wearing a borrowed dress, David gave her a new one by Mon Cheri Bridals, a white strapless gown with a sheer chiffon overlay attached to a beaded collar accessorized with a sparkling beaded belt. (Photograph from the Mon Cheri website.)

The bridesmaids, originally each wearing silver dresses that they had each chosen themselves, were given cobalt blue gowns with a ruffled collar and four crystal buttons. They were designed by Cameron Blake. (Photograph from the Mon Cheri website.) David said these dresses were his favorite of all of the bridesmaids dresses he had ever used.

During the outdoor ceremony, the bridesmaids wore faux fur wraps from Fabulous Furs (photograph from the Fabulous Furs website) and removed them for the indoor reception.

The groom said David gave them a wedding that was, “beyond their imagination.”
