Become a Top Wedding Planner – Write Down Your Goals to Make Them Happen

If you read my last post, you have determined your goals for 2011, so it’s time to write them down. Writing them down and seeing them in front of you will make them more real and help you focus on getting them accomplished.

Here are 3 tips for writing your goals:

1) Be specific

Write detailed goals. In other words, don’t just write, “I want to make money planning weddings.” Write, “I earn $5,000 a month planning weddings.”

2) Set a deadline for each goal

Write a date by which you intend to accomplish your goal. For example, “I earn $5,000 a month planning weddings by December 29, 2011.”

3) Create an action plan for each goal

Now that you know what you want to accomplish, you need to come up with a step-by-step plan to get it done, and schedule the steps in your calendar. For the example of earning $5000 a month, you will need to have services and products to sell and you need to have a plan to market them successfully. There will be steps you will need to take to move you closer to accomplishing each of your goals. Determine what those steps are and write them in your calendar so you work towards your goals each day.

Once you have your goals and action plan in writing, put them in a place where you will review them often and check on your progress. I actually rewrite my list of goals every morning and review what I need to do during the day to bring me closer to attaining them. These acts keep me focused on the bigger picture and motivate me to accomplish my daily tasks when I’d rather be doing something else.
