Become a Top Wedding Planner – 4 “Green” Wedding Ideas from Brides Magazine

Even when you are planning a wedding for a bride who hasn’t requested a totally eco-friendly wedding, she may want to incorporate some “green” ideas.

Here are four ideas on how to go “green” that were suggested in the December 2010 issue of Brides magazine:

1) Invitations

Many invitation companies have beautiful selections of invitations that can be printed on recycled paper. The bride can also skip ordering the inner envelopes and have RVSP cards printed as postcards. The beautiful invitation above was designed by Anne Clark at Minted.com and can be printed on 100% recycled paper.

2) Venue

Plan the wedding at a venue that does not require a lot of air travel for a majority of the guests. Plan the ceremony and reception at the same location or within walking distance of each other so people don’t need to drive. If the venues are far apart, hire shuttles so guests aren’t each driving their own cars.

3) Decor

Help your bride find a venue that is beautiful by itself, without the need for a lot of decorations that only last the length of the wedding. Suggestions include restaurants, estate homes and mansions.

4) Centerpieces

Instead of cut flowers, ask  the florist to use potted plants and blooms. Or work with an event designer to create centerpieces using candles, crystals, candy in pretty containers (the famous candy store, Dylan’s Candy Bar, has a book that includes a chapter on candy centerpieces for weddings), items from the beach, or cupcakes that can double as the desserts or the wedding favors for the guests.

The cupcakes above and the wedding favor selection below are available from my talented Twitter and Facebook friend, Laura of Genii Cupcakes in the UK.
