Cheap Wedding Dresses

A friend in Massachusetts just e-mailed me that Filene’s Basement Wedding Dress Sale, also know as the “Running of the Brides” because news reports compare it to the “Running of the Bulls” in Spain, will take place at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center this Friday, February 22. Eager brides-to-be and their friends rush into the store to purchase famous maker gowns at deeply discounted prices. This event will also take place in four other stores. You can find out more information at their website.

Brides go to Filene’s Basement Wedding Dress Sale from all over the country however, if your bride can’t attend any of the events, here are some other places brides can go to find inexpensive wedding dresses:

  • Sample sales at local bridal stores.
  • The Target website has wedding dresses for $90 to $130. Oprah featured them on her show last year.
  • J. Crew has clothes for the entire wedding party on their website.
  • Find a bridesmaid’s dress and asked for it in white.
  • See if a designer gown can be made in a less expensive fabric.
  • Find a seamstress who can create a copy of a designer dress for a fraction of the cost.
  • Visit eBay.
  • Go to the vintage clothing store or a resale shop.
  • Check out her mother and grandmother’s closets for their wedding dresses.
  • Rent a bridal dress.
  • Sew one herself. (I’ve done it!)

Even if the dress was bought on a budget, the bride should feel beautiful in it and it should show off her personality. Make sure she has the dress tailored so it fits her perfectly.
