Planning a Green Wedding

A growing trend in weddings today is the green, eco-friendly wedding. In fact, if you have a particular interest and commitment to protecting the earth, you might consider specializing in planning green weddings.

When a couple comes to you with an interest in “going green”, find out what that means to them. They may just want to add a few elements such as having the caterer avoid using disposable plates and utensils or decorating with organic flowers and potted plants. Other couples will want you to help them plan an event that expresses their commitment to the environment. A fully green wedding might include wedding rings of “conflict free” diamonds, a vintage dress or one that can be worn for other occasions, invitations made of recycled materials, a location that minimizes travel and a reception with locally grown organic foods.

Take some time to learn how you can help plan green weddings because this is a trend that will be around for a long time.

Some really great ideas here to “green up” your wedding. How about sourcing locally grown flowers? Flower miles are so damaging to the environment that this would make a big impact on the wedding’s carbon footprint.
