Wedding Planner Q&A – “I Have a Beautiful Website – Where Are My Brides?”

 

People may be telling you the website for your new wedding planning business is beautiful but that means little if it isn’t bringing you any business. My Q&A today is from a wedding planner with an enviable site who doesn’t have clients. My advice to her may help you attract more brides to your website and get them to call you.

Question

I have a beautiful, brand new website. Experienced wedding planners have looked at my site and have told me they definitely see me as competition. With that being said – not one bride has even called to inquire about my services!

What do I need to do?

Answer

Your website is beautiful (to protect the wedding planner’s privacy, I am not mentioning the URL) but the look of the site alone will not get brides to call you.

First you need to attract brides to your site, then you need to give them the information they are looking for so they will want to call you.

Here are 5 tips that may help you attract brides to your site and get them to call:

1) First, gather information about your site visitors

It’s important for you to know about the people who are visiting your site – how many are visiting, where they are located, and the pages of your site they spend time reading – so you can make upgrades that will attract more brides. To do this, I suggest you ask your web designer to add Google Analytics to your site. It runs in the background and automatically picks up information on your visitors.

2) Use the proper key words

You want your site to get picked up by the search engines so you need key words that brides would use in a search. I looked at the code for your site and it looks like you are using your name as a key word in addition to phrases such as “wedding planning boutique.” Instead, you might want to lead with something like “wedding planner in Your City” which is a more popular search phrase.

3) Use social media to send brides to your site

The Facebook Page and Pinterest and Instagram accounts that are linked to your website don’t promote your wedding planning services. It’s fine to have another business but you must keep that separate from this one. Set up separate social media accounts for your wedding planning business and drive readers from them to your website to learn more about you and your wedding planning services.

4) Give brides what they want to see and read

Your site is a gallery of beautiful wedding décor but you have very few photos of happy couples and no information about your services. Brides love photos of décor but they also want to know who you are and what you can do for them. And, they want to see other couples who have enjoyed using your services.

5) Make sure your site is complete

Web pages that say, “Coming soon! Check back again!” make you look unprepared, and it’s doubtful that brides will return to a site of a wedding planner who isn’t ready to show them what they want to see. Ask your web designer to keep these pages hidden until you have the photos and content needed.

Don’t forget to also have your website address printed on your business cards and other marketing pieces. Then take the time to go out and meet people so you have opportunities to spread the word about what you do and distribute information that will give brides your web address.
